Austin Webb grew up in Greenville, S.C. listening to healthy doses of Motown, R&B, rock, and retro country. Music hasn’t always been Webb’s passion; he also loved authors like Oscar Henry, Walt Whitman and Dylan Thomas, and started writing poetry at nine years old. He knew he was going to be a writer of some sort. At 16, when he picked up a guitar, he began pouring his emotions into songs.
After high school, Webb went to Atlanta and played gigs up and down the East coast. He worked odd jobs during his quest to make it as a singer/songwriter, including working on an assembly line building cars at a BMW plant.
After winning a local South Carolina songwriting competition, the Nashville Connection, Webb moved to Nashville. The demo he made through the contest made its way into the hands of Grammy award-winning producer Byron Gallimore, who immediately offered him a publishing deal. Since signing with the record company in 2012, Webb has released two albums Written Photography and Holy Smoke. He's had four singles that reached the top 50 on the airplay charts.
When I discover a new artist, it helps to compare them to an artist I already know and love. For me, Webb is a mix of Kris Kristofferson, Uncle Kracker and Chris Janson with a dash of Blake Shelton. Songs like “It’s All Good” and “Raise Em’Up” are fun, up-beat tunes that keep your head nodding along. “Even Angels Fall” and “Slip On By” showcase his poet's touch and will have you fighting back tears. You can catch Austin Webb on tour all over the United States with his latest single “All Country On You,” which you can check out below!
